Editorial Review:
Product Description: Whether dueling with new forensics or the local old boys' network, irreverent defense attorney Andy Carpenter always leaves them awed with his biting wit and winning fourth-quarter game plan. But the fun stops the day Andy's dad, Paterson, New Jersey's legendary ex-D.A., drops dead in front of him at a game in Yankee Stadium. The shocks pile on as he discovers his dad left him with two unexpected legacies: a fortune of $22 million that Andy never knew existed… and a murder case with enough racial tinder to burn down City Hall. Struggling to serve justice and bring honor to his father, Andy must dig up some explosive political skeletons--and an astonishing family secret that can close his case (and his mouth) for good. Open and Shut heralds--no contest--the year's most sensational new voice in mystery fiction: David Rosenfelt.

received order in a timely manner and it was in new condition. I have not read it yet.

I love David Rosenfelt's books featuring the lawyer Andy Carpenter. Andy is smart and funny. He is an animal lover and adores his dog Tara.
David evolves his characters with each book, and I look forward to reading each new one to see what happening to Andy and his friends.
Highly entertaining!

A death-row inmate, Willie Miller, is mighty close to his appointment with a dirt nap and, at the request of his father, Carpenter has reluctantly taken on the prisoner's hopeless appeal. Like many whodunits, ... Read More

David Rosenfelt has definitely acquired a new fan after reading his first work, Open and Shut. There are not enough good things to say about his style of writing, humor, and non-stop intrigue all rolled up into one fantastic method of creative art. We meet Andy Carpenter, Esq. on a mission to defend Willie Miller who has been spending the past seven years in prison for a crime he adamantly denies committing. One of the last requests Andy's father (a former Judge and the person who stood behind ... Read More

I read about the author in Cesar Milan's mag and thought the combo of dog and mystery would be super! The mystery part was okay - started slow and got a little better, but no great read. The dog part was almost non-existent. Maybe in the sequels?
