Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Recession Storming offers stong ROI
I found this text easy to navigate and sufficiently comprehensive to provide me with specific areas within my model and my market where I can effect positive results from strategies outlined within it pages. As the COO of a small software company that targets a niche market, it's important to stay current on the many different strategies that might help a company successfully navigate through the economic challenges of a recession. It helped me to resist pricing pressure from my customers and to re-focus attention to the value of the product and the customers ROI. I found this book was well worth the price.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - An excellent guide for the layperson
Being a non-business type, I found the prospect of reading a marketing book a little intimidating. I was immediately put at ease, however, by Mr. Hart's conversational manner, his witty humor, and his use of punchy, easy-to-follow descriptions and examples. I came out knowing much more about what those dusty economist types are talking about when they speak of recessions, and, in fact, have already used some of his lessons in dealing with my own small business, the selling of my novels and freelance magazine articles. An excellent read!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A Must Read for Marketers -- and Not Just During Recessions
This is the most practical marketing book I've seen to date. Covers basics that most marketing texts miss and marketers often forget. In this era of confusing web sites I was especially gratified by the author's discussion about making it easy for customers to buy on the website. And I very much enjoyed the integration of marketing principles and classical economics. Mr. Hart's writing style keeps your interest and makes the material very easy to comprehend. This book belongs in both the Marketing 101 curriculum as well as on marketers' reading lists.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Timely advice for this recession, chock full of examples from past downturns.
With a recession nipping at the heels of most businesses "Recession Storming" is a timely read. In easy-to-read prose, Rupert Hart lays out a five step program covering business environment, existing customers, pricing, new products and new markets. Each chapter is a clear check list of things to consider and advice. Paragraphs have bolded headers such as "Consider unbundling" or "Price using lifetime cost of ownership" that make it easy to skim. Numerous examples and stories underscore his points and make it an entertaining and quotable book.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - helpful for small business owners
I found this book extremely helpful for my business. Rupert Hart must have spent a long time researching all of the companies: lots of proven ideas.
Its easy to read format made it a quick read.
I found the following 3 strategies the most useful:
1) How to get more sales from my customers by convincing them to upgrade
2) How to figure out which products customers value so that I can hold the price on those items
3)How to come up with new products with recurring revenue to give a stable cash-flow
I liked the conversational style and the short paragraphs. It's easy to dissect useful information.
